FWW008 versions, plans, bugs, fixes

FWW008 is software to monitor an Arduserver.
This page chronicles versions, fixes to bugs, plans, etc.

(Page's URL: fww008-vers-fixes.htm)

This is a support page.

This page means nothing on its own. It is support documentation for the "product page" for FWW008.

Version: 24819

This version "works" just fine, for the most part.

As long as it receives a data line like...

<>

It will parse it along the following lines...

<>

(Yes, I'm relying on you doing some digging elsewhere to make sense of that. This page is for reading LATER, really, once you are "into" FWW008 and it's Arduserver)

The Arduserver described at this page, in version "30 May 23, 19:40 ", will usually send just exactly what is called for... with one itty bitty bug. A bug that this version of FWW008 does not deal with well.

(The Arduserver's version is reported, visibly, in the page it serves... but quite a long way down the page.)

-----
Second flaw in FWW008, version 24819:

It "throws away" one digit... the most significant, if I recall properly, of the numbers provided for the ccccc and nnnnn data.

This doesn't stop FWW008 presenting good graphs, but the user is denied some of the data that the Arduserver sent. As these two numbers are usually just ever-rising (or frozen) progress indicators, the only consequence is an earlier roll-over in the data. (Not to be confused with the "wrapping" of the line on the graph to restrict it to a user chosen vertical band.)

-----
To enhance FWW008, version 24819:

Extend the Shift Offset system as follows...

Allow negative numbers for the shift. When +, use a DIV. When negative use a MOD. The latter will make the graphs of things like the "milliseconds run" proof of life graphs nicer... I think!

-----
To enhance FWW008, version 24819:

Introduce something to check ReadInteger lines, and report cases where the ini file holds something unsuitable. Does it then use the default value, I wonder?? CHECK.

To be moved

Sorry... I need to do a separate "vers-fixes" page for ardsrv_23518_2t2h_door... but there are only so many hours in the day!... so, for now, THIS is that "vers-fixes" page...

ardsrv_23518_2t2h_door
Version "30 May 23, 19:40"

This is pretty good!

The most critical flaw is that it will inject "1000" into the data line if a humidity sensor returns 100.0

At the moment (24 Aug 24) FWW008 does not handle that at all well. The fix SHOULD be made in the Arduserver... but also, FWW008 should handle bad data lines more cleverly.

A few words from the sponsors...

Please get in touch if you discover flaws in this page. Please mention the page's URL. (wywtk.com/fw/fww008-vers-fixes.htm).

If you found this of interest, please mention in forums, give it a Facebook "like", Google "Plus", or whatever. If you want more of this stuff, help!? There's not much point in me writing these things, if no one feels they are of any use.

What's New at the Site Advanced search
Search tool (free) provided by FreeFind... whom I've used since 2002. Happy with it, obviously!

Unlike the clever Google search engine, this one merely looks for the words you type, so....
*    Spell them properly.
*    Don't bother with "How do I get rich?" That will merely return pages with "how", "do", "I"....

Please also note that I have three other sites, and that this search will not include them. They have their own search buttons.

My SheepdogSoftware.co.uk site, where you'll find my main homepage. It has links for other areas, such as education, programming, investing.

My SheepdogGuides.com site.

My SkyWoof.com site. ("Sky" is a border collie friend of mine- but the site isn't about doggie things.)

Why does this page cause a script to run? Because of the Google panels, and the code for the search button. Also, I have my web-traffic monitored for me by eXTReMe tracker. They offer a free tracker. If you want to try one, check out their site. Why do I mention the script? Be sure you know all you need to about spyware.
